About the event

Bring your instruments, your voice, your words, or even just your physical presence for listening and hanging out. We'll gather in circle to improvise with a constant drone as our grounding energy to open the space up for all to let their voice off the leash. We'll be experimenting with amplified voice in harmony & noise to explore sound in community. This is a jam gathering, so all participation is improvised and welcomed. We have a PA, but bringing your own microphone/ amp is also welcome!

More about  My Blood Is My Voice Project:

We come together as practitioners to explore the physical experience of an amplified space to support affirmation of the queer & neuroqueer voice. Exploring what personal alchemy in transformation means to the individual in how we express ourselves freely.

We create vocal ‘noisescapes’ collectively to explore questions:

What can human sound take inspiration from beyond the binary?

What binds and separates our voice to identity?

What permits us to speak to our ancestry?

How do we truly listen to and hear voices outside of our own?

How do we identify with transformation, with stepping into our true collective form?

Who For?

This workshop is open to all! All we ask is that if you want to attend you are mindful of who this space has been opened up by, and why. We are a collective of diverse and divergent queer folk seeking to create spaces that we feel safe(r) in. We want our jam spaces to do this openly.  Some of our other workshops and events will be closed spaces. Any questions, please ask.

This project is part of a research & development piece which seeks non-hierarchical modes of writing. Devising theatre/composing music collectively & collaboratively through shared lived experience & magical practice. Decolonizing the method of storytelling. Deconstructing the gender binary of how the human voice should sound. Amplified voices bear witness to, and hold safe all freedom of expression in catharsis. However ugly. However wild. We are here to make space, give space & take space. To surrender and give to our collective power.
